New: streaming radio sub-forum |
|
|
electro-music.com has a very strong internet streaming radio capability. We have used radio.electro-music.com to great effect with live streaming of our electro-music festivals and special streaming concert on New Years Eve and other occasions.
We would like to evolve the capabilities of radio.electro-music.com so we can provide our members music with more exposure and enhance the impact of the electro-music.com community as a whole.
Therefore, we have set up a sub-forum dedicated to radio.electro-music.com. This is the place for posting announcement of programs and events, and for discussing ways to improve and develop this important capability.
This new forum is for all, listeners as well as musician/streamers. If you've got any ideas or suggestions, or want to help out, please contribute.

Sounds like a great idea. I've been listening to lots of streaming electronica, lately, in particular, net labels, which are very small non-profit internet-only record labels that usually provide artists' music for free downloading. The object isn't money, but to build an audience for the artists, some of whom have gone on to bigger and better things due to their net label exposure. I've found dozens, if not hundreds of net labels on the web, so far, most of them releasing electronic experimental music and all other genres of electronic music. I wonder if an electro-music net label might be a good idea? We certainly have a diverse range of talents to promote.
For anyone interested in the idea of establishing a net label, here is a short "how-to" on the subject, which focuses upon using Archive.org as a free host for the net label. There are a number of well known net labels there, already, some of the best, IMHO:

electro-music.com has already published a series of CDs. You can find these in the shop section.
And there are even some DVDs too.
Many of our members are using the archive.org option as well as net-labels.

Well, kinda.. but that is not high on the list. And we do allow people to post stuff here.. and if people need special storage services or whatever then they are allowed to ask for help.
Right now electro-music.com is a website, we have released CDs and DVDs, we have a yearly festival ( with offspring ), we have streaming radio, we are selling PCBs for special projects ( found in the DIY section )... and there is probably more going on.. I get so confused sometimes.
Right.. and we helped out the Waldorf dudes when the old company died and the Waldorf support ftp site needed a new home. And.. there must be more.. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

BTW, let us not forget that the members here are busy with their own projects as well, and there is a real lot going on here below the surface. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Ah, I see. Yep, it does sound like you guys have a full plate already. Besides, some of those "net label" sites are really just blogs and websites with music downloads, anyway, so you're, basically, already sort of a net label, with the exception of calling it one, I guess.
P.S.: How does one get an "artist's forum" in the Artists section?

Well, we certainly aren´t a net-label as we haven´t in any way been selective about the stuff that is available here. Net-labels will usually be very selective and will have some sort of profile to what they release. We leave that to the CD label which is more of a private enterprise.
As for the artist forums, we are keeping that a bit low profile at the moment as we have been discussing various other ways for each member to have their own spot here. We aren´t there yet though. The existing artist subforums were set up way back in the bronze age of electro-music.com.
Carlo Serafini has been working his artist forum a bit. I have one too, but haven´t posted anything in there for ages. I´ve chosen to keep some samples of my work online over at Myspace and Virb. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Thanks for the suggestions, Gary. I think Elektro80 summed up the status pretty well. We apprear to be at some sort of inflection point at electro-music.com. _________________ --Howard
