This is an atypical composition, for me. I usually improvise funny melodic tunes. This one is different.

It's the result of two experiments that were going nowhere. I combined the experiments to see how that would sound. I like it.

The first experiment was a non-melodic noodling with a Microkorg arpeggiator patch that might be an original preset. (I've long lost track of which patches came from where.)

The second experiment was a drum rhythm I programmed with the PC pattern editor on my Boss BR-600 recorder.

The drum pattern is a consistent 4/4 while the arp part, while rhythmically synced to the drums, is NOT consistent at all. The poly-rhythmic interplay changes continually

When I listen to this track my mind alternately follows one part and then the other. The effect is hypnotic. I hope others "hear" it the same way.
